Alright, I haven’t blogged in a really long time. I have loads of adequate excuses. My daughter’s third birthday party (in October). My in-laws came from England and my Brother-in-law and his wife came from Hawaii for Thanksgiving. Fun, but a whole lot of folks in one house…not much knitting time, definately no blogging time. Then there was my birthday (thank you very much) and just this past weekend my son’s 6 year old birthday party. Wheee. 14 children and various parents and grandparents *in our house*. We were supposed to do it at the zoo but it rained. Everyone had a lovely time…I sat in stunned silence all evening afterwards.
However, the most compelling reason not to be typing here is that I’m still not finished with my holiday gifts. Ack. A goodly number are already out the door as the folks from England and Hawaii took theirs back with them, saving me an ungodly amount of postage. Right now I’m trying to finish the last Magic Hat for the children and a somewhat secret gift for Sam.
After I’m done with those, I’m knitting nothing for anyone but me until after the New Year. I mean honestly, how can I maintain kntterly pride when I have nothing lovely to cast over my shoulders and wear to the LYS. I’ve been knitting up a storm for everyone else, but I’ve only made me a pair of socks. This is wrong. So….for my birthday I got yarn for:
1) Landscape shawl in Lorna’s Laces Worsted – Flames,
2) Lovely kettle-dyed wool for the gauntlets from Stitch ‘n’ Bitch Nation,
3) Alpaca blend in deep reds for a hat with earflaps
4) a 100% alpaca hand-dyed, green colorway, for a cowl in a lacey leaf pattern.
This should keep me out of trouble for a bit. If I get tired of it, I still have a pair of socks to finish for Sam.
